Tucked in the Surrey Hills, Gate Street Barn combines reclaimed beams, countryside views and a warm, romantic feel. The barn and connected reception spaces allow your day to move from the ceremony through to dinner and dancing.
Reclaimed beams, countryside views and a choice of connected spaces. A sleek photo booth could complement the rustic setting; agree its position and any outdoor setup with the venue.
A Barn with a Story
Gate Street’s barn was built in a traditional style using oak trees lost on the farm in the 1987 storm. That timber gives the room its warmth and texture, with enough character to carry a simple wedding design.
For couples drawn to a countryside setting, the appeal is the combination of a central barn and smaller connected spaces. You can think about the celebration as a series of moments, rather than one room that needs to do everything.
From Ceremony to Celebration
The Orangery connects the Barn to the Pheasantry bar and opens towards the Wedding Garden. The Granary offers another connected space with a log burner. On your viewing, walk the route your guests will take and ask how the team handles the change from ceremony to dining.
The barn can seat up to 150 guests, with table layout affecting the final number. Ask to see a plan that includes your dining arrangement and any entertainment, so you understand the space available throughout the evening.
Staying at Gate Street
Accommodation options include the Farmhouse, Stable Flat and Hayloft, alongside other stays on the estate. Confirm which are available with your date and whether they are included or booked separately.
Decide early who you would like to stay nearby. A small group remaining on site can make the morning preparations and the end of the evening easier to organise.
Planning Your Photo Booth
With several connected spaces, placement matters more than simply finding an empty corner. Ask the venue which area stays busy after dinner and whether a booth there would leave a clear route between the bar and dance floor.
A simple backdrop could sit comfortably alongside the timber interiors. Before choosing a courtyard setup, agree a sheltered alternative, suitable power and a level surface with the venue and your booth supplier.

Ask how the ceremony, drinks and evening reception would flow between the spaces, including the plan for a rainy day.
- How will the rooms be arranged for our guest numbers?
- Which accommodation and preparation spaces are included?
- When can our photo booth supplier arrive, and where should they unload?
